Answer #1

Velocity, v = F/A = F/pi r^2

v = (0.35 x 1000)/(pi x 0.27^2) = 1528.24 cm/s = 15.28 m/s

A)

Using law of conservation of energy,

0.5 mv^2 = mgh

Height, h = v^2/2g

h = 15.28^2/(2 x 9.8) = 11.92 m

B)

v = (0.35 x 1000)/(pi x 0.85^2) = 1.54 m/s

h = 1.54^2/(2 x 9.8) = 0.12 m = 12.13 cm
