anion means the more no of electrons than the protons so negative charge i.e anion formed

cation means the no of electrons are less than the protons and the positive charge is obtained

in an anion there are more electrons than the electrons giving the anion a negative charge

in non metals the no of electrons and the protons are same and there is no net charge

here the non metals are gains the electrons and then forms the anions and the no of electrons are more

if the same of no of electrons and the protons and there is no change in charge i.e no net charge
