Diuresis means increase in flow of urine.it is a condition in which the kidneys filter too much bodily fluid as part of the body's homeostatic maintenance of fluid balance.The normal range of urine output is 800 to 2,000 milliliters per day (with a normal fluid intake of about 2 liters per day).

  • water diuresis is produced by drinking large amounts (about 2% of body weight almost equal to 1L) of water or hypotonic fluid.
  • osmotic diuresis is produced due to presence of large quantities of unabsorbed solutes such as Na+, glucose,ureaetc. in the renal tubules.
