Answer #1

Answer: Oppose--completely eliminating the estate tax.

Estate tax is unearned receipt in the hands of the beneficiary. Hence, it should be taxed beyond a threshold limit.

As per the existing laws in US, as of 2018, estates with combined gross assets and prior taxable gifts exceeding $11.18 million, need to file a federal estate tax return and pay estate taxes. This limit was $5.49 million and $5.45 million for the previous two years.

The exemption limit is very high and it is estimated that only 0.0006% of the population in US will become liable to pay estate tax and It affects only the very large estates. Hence, the legislation need not be eliminated completely.
