Its a Soft Currency. As is all national currencies right now. A Hard Currency would be one that either is or is backed up by, some tangible asset like Gold. So if the Brazilian Real was backed by Gold, then it would be a Hard currency. Or if Gold itself was used as the Brazilian currency.
