The Benefits of Providing Child Care or Day Care for Employees

Day care in workplace is an onsite facility that

provides child care for the children of employees.

It is usually limited by the age of the child.

The facility can be provided at a fee or subsidized

fee or it can be totally free.

The employer need to get the necessary licences

and has to have sufficient trained staff, insurance

coverages etc.

The benefits of offering Child Care or Day Care to

employees are:

*The firms get access to a larger pool of talent

from which it can select.

When a firm projects that it has child care

facilities, parents who are talented but are

staying home to look after children, are also

available for selection.

*It enables to tap the talent in women who have

to tend to babies. If child care facilities are not there

the services of talented parents who tend to babies

would be lost.

*Tax credits are available to firms when they

provide childcare facilities.

*Lower absenteeism. This is empirically proved

as parents need not take leave to look after

children, when their alternative arrangements

fail.

*Better employee performance has been

established through studies. Employees do not

have to have concerns about children while at

work which, makes them more productive at
