Answer #1

1)
Cd(OH)2 is ionic compound of Cd2+ and OH-
So, oxidation state of Cd = charge on ion = +2
Answer: +2

2)
Oxidation number of O = -2

lets the oxidation number of I be x

use:
5* oxidation number (O) + 2* oxidation number (I) = net charge
5*(-2)+2* x = 0
-10 + 2 * x = 0
x = 5
So oxidation number of I = +5
Answer: +5

C)
lets the oxidation number of Hg be x

use:
2* oxidation number (Hg) = net charge
2* x = +2
0 + 2 * x = +2
x = 1
So oxidation number of Hg = +1

Oxidation number of each element in Hg2+2 is
Hg=+1

Answer: +1
