The oxidation state oxygen is -2

x-2   = 0

x = +2

The oxidation state of chlorine in magnesium chloride(MgCl2) is -1

The oxidation state of Mg is + 2

2x+2 = 0

2x = -2

x = -1

The oxidation state of chromium in dichromate ion (Cr2O7^2-) is +6

The oxidation state oxygen is -2

2x+(6*-2) = -2

x = +6
