Answer #1

z- value is given by the formula

z= rac{x - mu }{sigma }

here mu = 81, sigma = 15 and n= 100

And null and alternative hypothesis are:

Ho : μ > 81

H1 :μ < 81 (left tail test)

a. ar{x} = 80.5

80.5- 81

= -0.033

From the table, the p-value is 0.4868

Since p-value > alpha =0.01

Conclusion: Do Not Reject H0

b.  ar{x} = 77.5

77.5- 81

= -0.233

From the table, the p-value is 0.4079

Since p-value > alpha =0.01

Conclusion: Do Not Reject H0

c. ar{x} = 75.5

75.5- 81

= -0.3667

From the table, the p-value is 0.3572

Since p-value > alpha =0.01

Conclusion: Do Not Reject H0

d. ar{x} = 83

83 81 15

= 0.1333

From the table, the p-value is 0..4470

Since p-value > alpha =0.01

Conclusion: Do Not Reject H0
