The behavior system model of nursing was developed by Dorothy E. Johnson .

It stresses the importance of research based knowledge about the effect of nursing care on patients .when she first proposed the theory in 1968 ,she explained that it was to foster " the efficient and effective behavioral functioning in patient to prevent illness.

Johnson categorised all human behaviour in to seven subsystems such as attachment , achievement , aggressive ,dependence , sexual ,ingestive and eliminative .

Nurses role :

• Nurse should always focus on behaviour of patient .
• Health is a purposeful adaptive response to internal and external stimuli in order to maintain stability and control .
• The primary goal of nurse is to foster equilibrium in the individual patient .nurse should focus on maintaining balance in the behavioural syatem during illness .
• Nurse should educate the patient about how to cope with situation and his  to adapt to environment in order to maintain stability and balance .
• Nurse should teach the patient about his to develop intimacy with society.
