      * Mydriatics are drugs which cause dilation of people

      * Two types of muscles that control size of iris they are

         iris sphincter and iris dilator in which iris sphincter innervated

         by parasympathetic system and iris dilator innervated by sympathetic

         system.

      * Mydriatic drugs stimulate sympathetic system which result in contraction

         of radial muscles in the iris dilator leads to dilation of pupil.

Use of mydriatics.

      * Mydriatic drugs used before examination of retina and other deep structures

        of the eye.

      * It is used in diagnostic tests for horner's syndrome.

      * Used before indirect ophthalmoscopy.

      * Used to reduce cliliary muscle spasm (cycloplegia)

      * Mydriatic drugs are used before cataract surgery.

      * Used during testing of refractive errors of the eye.
