Answer #1

Total cost of Zub = 400 drums @ $90 each drum

= $36,000

(a)

Number of gallons produced of AA = 30 gallons @ 400 drums

= 12,000 gallons

Number of gallons produced of BB = 15 gallons @ 400 drums

= 6,000 gallons

Total Gallons produced = 12,000 + 6,000 i.e. 18,000 gallons

Cost to be allocated to AA = ($36,000 / 18,000) * 12,000

= $24,000

Cost to be allocated to BB = ($36,000 / 18,000) * 6,000

= $12,000

(b)

Market value of AA = 12,000 gallons @ $10 each

= $120,000

Market value of BB = 6,000 gallons @ $30 each

= $180,000

Total Market Value = $120,000 + $180,000

= $300,000

Cost to be allocated to AA = ($36,000 / $300,000) * $120,000

= $14,400

Cost to be allocated to BB = ($36,000 / $300,000) * $180,000

= $21,600
