Solution: Potential Conflicts: a) Bill cant avail tax deduction of Alimony Mary dont require to report almony receipt as taxable income b) Explanation: As per IRS, for divorce decree before Dec.31, 2018, one of condition to avail alimony is that: The spouses arent members of the same household when the payment is made. Threrefore, the above conflicts will arise. Remedy: Ideally, they should leave separately, for that either of both should live as separate household. Either of them may live on rent on a separate place Or make two portions or two houses of your current house.
