Recommended; 80 to 100mg/kg/24 hours

= 5000 maximum in 24 hours

= 4000 mg (minimum)

Thus the recommended single dose range every q6h is = 4000/4 = 1000mg (minimum) to 5000/4 = 1250 mg maximum

The ordered dose is 500 mg (this is safe but less than the minimum dosage required, 1000mg
