a custodial worker begins to clean the office. while dusting, he begins to have trouble breathing. you tell him that you know first aid and ask if you can help. he says he had asthma and has an inhaler in his coat pocket which is on his chart. what should you do now?

  • Provide comfortable position, preferably upright position.
  • Loosen his clothes e.g. shirt and coat.
  • Check for the inhaler in his pocket.
  • According to the chart provide inhaler to the patient with recommended puffs e.g. one or two puffs.
  • Call for help if the condition worsens.
