M1 = 3 M. M2 = 0.5 M

V1 = ? V2 = 175 ml

From dilution law,.

M1 V 1 = M2 V2

V1 = M2 V2 / M1

V1 = ( 0.5 M x 175 ml ) / 3 M

V1 = 29.16 ml

Therefore the Volume of solution ( V1 ) = 29.16 ml

Thus, 29.16 ml HCl should be diluted to get 0.5 M HCl
