Answer #1

The tympanic membrane is a thin and cone-shaped membrane that exist between the external ear and the middle ear. The major function of tympanic membrane is to act as the medium of the passage of sound from the ear to different parts in the ear including the inner ossicles and the oval window(Fishman, 2005). Thyroid glands, on the other hand, is a ductless gland that exists in the neck, and its major function is to secrete hormones that are responsible for regulating the growth and the development through the whole process of metabolism in animals (Lyshchik, 2005).

The tympanic membrane caused by either the disturbance of the drum or the infections that frequently affects the ear. Josphat Killen in the year 1990, was diagnosed with the diseases that affect the ear (Singh, 2003). The doctor claims that this infection caused by a bacteria which eats up the tendons that hold the ear drum in the right position so as it performs its functions. The infection went from bad to worse until a point whereby he could not hear even a single word any matter the volume used. Cancer kilo in the year 2001 experience some complications which resulted in the stunted growth. After the inspection by the doctor, she was diagnosed to have the infection of the thyroid glands which is responsible for producing hormones that are responsible for the healthy growth in all animals.

The symptoms that accompany the tympanic membrane are the fever and the pain in the ear. There are two types of tympanic membrane which are acute otitis and otitis media. The feature that is used to differentiate between the two is the position of the tympanic membrane. In the acute otitis, the tympanic membrane is usually bulging while in the otitis media; it is in a neutral position with effusion. The physical examination of the ear is affected by many factors amongst them are cerumen blockage of the auditory canal, exasperated parent or even uncooperative toddler.

On anterior examination of thyroid glands, the following steps are followed:

  1. The patient should be comfortable either seated or standing with the neck in a neutral or slightly extended position.
  2. Using cross-lighting will help in increasing the shadow and thus increases or improves the detection masses.
  3. To enable proper visualization of the gland, extend the neck which will stretch the tissues and finally have the patient swallow a sip of water while you watch for the upward movement of the thyroid gland.

On the posterior examination of the thyroid glands, this is the steps:

  1. The patient should be in standing or seated position.
  2. Standing behind the patient helps to locate the position of the glands properly.
  3. Move the hands to the position in the neck of the patient so as to locate the thyroid glands.
  4. Has the patient taken a sip of water as you feel the upward movement of the thyroid glands?

The test of thethyroid is conducted using the test on some thyroxin hormones. The thyroxin hormone contains four atoms of iodine and is often called T4. This, in turn, is converted into triiodothyronine which is often called T3. The test for thyroid done on the test of the T4 and T3. Laboratories uses the reference ranges to compare the blood test results for T4 and T3. The expected range of T4 is 9.0 to 25.0 pmol/l (picomoles per litre) while for the T3 is from 3.5 to 7.8 pmol/l (picomoles per litre). Any deviation from this ranges then implies the infection of the thyroid glands. A very prominent example for tympanic membrane infection is alack of listening properly and not balancing correctly. The problem of the thyroid gland identified by the lack of growth and swollen neck (Bliss, 2000).

In conclusion, tympanic membrane and thyroid glands are two problems that affect most people all over the globe and therefore a serious action was taken. Reporting the problem to the doctors will help Culp the problem since there is medicine to remedy the problems caused.
