In order to apply the sociological imagination to this problem, select one of the forms of collective violence and describe the consequences of that type of collective violence on the macro and micro levels

People who gather together to form a group ,which may be stable or unstable ,use violence as a tool against another group of people to stay ahead in overall social status or level . This type of violence is called collective violence.

We will take WAR , it is a form of collective violence. War arises due to conflict between various group of communities within a country or between one or more countries to prove the superiority to win over the conflict or dispute. Some of the consequences of war are:

• Loss of lives
• Loss of material resources
• Loss of peace
• Loss of equilibrium in environment
• Leads to food scarcity
• Leads to poverty
• Leads to psychological and physiological disabilities in people
• Reduced access to health care

War leads to increased mortality & morbidity rates, destruction of vegetations in environment, leads to mental or psychological distress, decreased vaccination rates and access to health care, lack of food , fear . Micro level explains that a war within a country , between some groups due to disputes.

War in macro level ( between countries) may continue for years . Causes may be

• conflicts
• availability of natural resources
• to prove their superior power
• ego
• increased population which leads for expanding the territory
• For becoming economically stable
• As a revenge etc.

This war at macro level may extend for days and years. They bring about

• Famine
• Forced migration
• Control over natural resources by the superior one
• Economic decline
• Psychological,physiological trauma
• Extinct of some species due to use of powerful weapons( eg: nuclear bombs)
• Cessation of access to health service
• Loss of life

What might it be like to experience the type of collective violence you selected?

The effects of war may be long or short but the people suffer from various unpleasant atrocities. The effects of war will stay ever in the minds and histories of the country.

Give specifics of how your current life would be affected by this type of violence.

Our current life may be devastated by the war. Lack of access to food, water , shelter make us weak, malnourished and mentally disabled. Economically we will be down. No access to basic amenities may leave us in fear of death. We will be psychologically affected . There will be no access to education, health service , communication , transportation ,etc. As our infrastructure may get destroyed due to war, our productivity may stop temporary or permanent.

What global social problems might be perpetuated by this type of collective violence?

Globally war leads to economic crisis, threat to international peace, disruption of life and health services, lack of basic needs including education .

International peace should be retained. Conflicts should be resolved effectively. Ban production of nuclear and chemical weapons. All unique qualities of countries should be maintained. The powerful nations should not plan to conquer small countries , in turn they may help the small countries to grow in all terms.
