Answer #1

ANSWER.

6) a) BSA (Body surface area) formula

              BSA (m2) = Square root (Height (cm) * Weight (kg) ) / 3600)

b) Calculation of BSA for this patient.

          Here

Height of the patient = 5 feet 6 inch

Convert feet and inch value to cm for calculation

                    1 feet = 30.48 cm.

                    1 inch = 2.54 cm

         So

             Height of the patient = 5 * 30.48 + 6 * 2.54

                                              = 152.4 + 15.24

                                              = 167.64 cm.

Weight of the patient = 168 pounds.

Convert pound to kg for calculation

                      1 pound = 0.454 kg.

            Weight of the patient = 168 * 0.454

                                              = 76.3 kg.

As per above formula for BSA

                     BSA = square root (167.64 * 76.3) / 3600)

                              = square root (12790.9) / 3600)

                              = square root (3.55)

                              = 1.88 m2.
