avg speed = 2 v * w / v+w

where v and w are the two speeds

Hence, in our case,

avg speed = 2 *50*90 / 50+90

= 64.28 m/sec

As the g is directed always downward, hence taking UP as positive makes the sign of 'g' negative automatically.
