Pathophysiology

The cause leads to infection of the peritoneal layers,this leads to infection of the fluid in the peritoneal cavity. In order to counter react the immune system plays a role by fighting infection by increasing WBC reactions. As a result inflammatory process occurs as an immune response. This if not treated will affect the internal organs and start causing symptoms.

Nursing intervention

1. Monitor vital signs
2. Provide psychological support
3. Explain all the procedure before performing

Medication

1. Antibiotics to treat infection
2. Ascitic tapping to remove excess fluid
3. Analgesics to relieve pain

Patient teaching

1. Hygienic practices
2. Reports in case of pain ,fever ,or any side effects or new symptoms
3. Take medication as prescribed
4. Proper follow up
