the heavy metals are Lead , Cadmium , Arsenic , Mercury are some of them

and here the possible ions are formed as follows

Lead forms the ions Pb^2+ and Pb^4+ (+2 , +4 )

Cadmium forms the Cd^2+ ( +2)

Arsenic forms the As^3- and As^3+ and As^5+ ions ( -3 , +3 , +5 )

Mercury forms the Hg^+1 and Hg^2+ (+1 , +2)

in the brackets the number is oxidation numbers and forms the ions based on this number
