Extremely low birth weight babies :

It is defined as the babies who are born with the weight below 1000 gms. That babies we can called as extremely low birth weight babies.

* the normal weight of the baby is 2500 - 3000 gms.

Effect of extremely low birth weight babies on the families and communities :

* extremely low birth weight babies will show negative impact or effect on family and communities.

* short term impacts like after birth the babies can not adjust to the external environment.

* Hospital admission is necessary and babies has to keep in neonatal intensive care unit.

* For that money is needed more and more, so some of the people can not afford that economical burden.

* so it is one of the socioeconomical impact of family.

* Even though they spend money some chances only there to recovering of the children.

* If there is no recovery the family members may disturb emotionally and psychologically.

* And some of long term effects are they may develop some neurological deficits or defects, these leads to improper mental and intellectual development of children.

* so it is one of the long term effect on both families and communities.

* And premature babies need long term care in hospital and in home also.

* Due to lack of maturity of organs and immune power they are more prone to get all diseases so, morbidity rates are higher.

* Ethnic groups are having less low birth weight rate than cultural groups, because cultural beliefs are high due to that they wont eat necessary things, but ethnics are not like that.

* Some of the low birth weight developmental services centers are available in our community.

* These will provide adequate information to the patients regarding taking care of the baby.

* Like kangaroo mother care.

* Exclusive breast feeding.

* providing warmth ness.

* by creating nestled environment the babies can recover well and earlier.

* And also some services like district early interventions centers are there to provide free services to the total child hood problems.

* so like this economical and psychological benefits may get by the families and communities.
