We know that there exists two type unions :National Union and Local Unions. Both unions work hand in hand to ensure that workers are not exploited and their voices are heard at every level of government and community. Local unions typically focus upon the smaller worker groups and local policies which affects small number of people. Their level of involvement is determined by the needs of their members.

Local unions often seek membership or affiliation with national unions. These are the larger organizations that focus on national policy and set guidelines for how local unions recruit, train and support their members. National unions reflects the local union goals of representing workers and defending their rights at a mass level.

Local unions do not possess adequate funds and strength to forcefully voice their opinions. More often than not they are succumbed to political pressure and lack of public interest. Their cause do not get much limelight and thus these groups are ignored in all ways possible. Thus national unions ensure that such grave injustice must not happen to local unions and they must get a proper platform to voice their opinions.
