Solution : Calculation of taxes that Salem could save:

State Income Tax = State Taxable income x State income tax rate = $38790 x 3% = $1163.7

Itemized on sales tax = Total sales tax paid - State Income tax (As calculated above)

Itemized on sales tax = $1310.40 - $1163.7 = $146.7

Saving of taxes = $146.7 x 25% = $36.675 r/o $37

Therefore, the Taxes that could be saved by Salem amounts to $37.
