The difference is in the directions of their exit points. For election, x_{f} is negative. While for positron x_{f} is positive. The reason for this difference is that the electron is negatively charged while the positron is positively charged. Their response to the electric field is the acceleration gained in opposite directions, and hence their motion in opposite directions .

The similarity is the same magnitude of x_{f} and y_{f} for both electron and position. The reason is that although the electron and positron are oppositely charged they have the same magnitude of their charge which is 1.6 × 10-19 C. Therefore, the acceleration that the electric field produces for both them have the same magnitude .
