Evidence based policy is an approch of using evidence to make policies . It is an extension of evidence based medicine and evidence based management .

Legislatives emphasize the value of statistical analysis, empirical research and ideally randomized controlled trials. It helps to raise awareness and increase the application of research findings in making health policies . It helps to decrease the failure chances of a policy because it's developed on the basis of evidence and experience also it helps the proper utilization of funds kept for the policy development . Health policies are the policies which are developed to improve the health status of the population of a country so it need to be evidence based and also approved by the ministry of health for the proper functioning and goal attainment .
