Case study : regarding HIPAA regulation.

Your brother is a patient at your clinic. He has come to the clinic for treatment of an illness. From previous conversations with your brother about what he intends to divulge, you suspect that your brother may not have provided all the information the doctor needs to treat the illness adequately and safely. Can you access your brother’s electronic medical record to view the information he provided to the doctor? Can you talk to the doctor to determine if he has all of the information? Why or why not?

Answer #1

ANSWER :

As my brother is not providing the complete and accurate information of his medical condition to the doctor, it will be difficult to provide appropriate treatment to him without any prior information about the illness. The only way to get the medical history of my brother is to access his electronic health record to find out the information of the health condition and illnesses. After collecting the medical information of my brother I will discuss the health condition of my brother with the doctor to make sure that my brother receive the effective treatment and be healthy. After discussing with the doctor if the doctor find any missing reports of the patient then it will become mandatory for me to confront my brother to open up about the health problem as hiding of the problem leads to further complications.
