A student has climbed on the roof of a building and is trying to hit her friend with snowballs as he walks through the Quad. she throws them at an angle of 20 degrees above the horizontal at a speed v_o = 5m/s. The building has height h = 6m.

Her friend decides to throw one back. He’s standing a distance d from the building, and throws a snowball. It did not go fast enough and hits the side of the building.

a. How far above the ground did he throw the snowball ?

now write sentences in terms of your algebraic variables that allow you to answer the following (this portion is about the girl on the top of the building throwing snowballs down at the quad) :

-how much time does it take for the girl’s snowballs to hit the quad ?

-where do the snowballs land on the quad ?

- how fast are they traveling when they hit the quad ?

- in what direction are they traveling when they land on the quad ?

Now he throws another snowball at her, this time harder so it lands at the top of the building (now this is about the boy on the ground throwing snowballs up at her on top of the building)
