Answer #1

1. Anxiety, inflamed and bulging eyes, difficulty sleeping, irritability, unexplained weight loss, palpitation, elevated blood pressure, enlarged thyroid gland, thickened skin and reddish spots suggest hyperthyroidism. According to the given signs and symptoms, we can suspect hyperthyroidism.

2. In order to confirm the suspected diagnosis, we have to do thyroid function test. (TFT). TFT has to be done in empty stomach.

3. Treatment for hyperthyroidism : Propyl thio uracil as antithyroid medication which block the synthesis of thyroid hormones, has to be prescribed. If persistent hyperthyroidism exists, thyroidectomy has to be performed.

4. Treatment of exophthalmos: Corticosteroids has to be prescribed to decrease the swelling of eyes.
