Z = (X - mean)/sd

=(X - 101.41)/13.55

P(80 <X< 120)

= P ( −1.58<Z<1.37 )

= P(Z < 1.37) - P(Z < -1.58)

=0.8576

b)

Y = Men's IQ

Z =(Y - 103.08)/14.54

= P ( −1.59<Z<1.16 )

=0.8211

c)

we see that P(80 <X < 120) is larger for Women as its sd is lower than that of Men

also we see that left critical point is roughly equal -1.58 and -1.59 whereas the right critical point is higher for women (1.37 > 1.16)
