Billing can be done on the same day when a patient is admitted for at least 8 hours and less than 24 hours.Medicare pays two visit by a provider on the same day for different conditions, different procedures on same patient. It can be bundled and paid for the physician on the same day by Medicare.

The billing is usually done on per day per patient ratio.So only one inpatient billing can be done on a day ..Dr.Jones statement is correct as the surgical procedures takes time for appropriate coding and processing for billing and cannot be done on the same day.It has three phases like pre operative, intraoperative and post operative.
