Answer #1

a)

Given:

lambda = 209 um = 2.09*10^-4 m

use:

f = c/lambda

=(3.0*10^8 m/s)/(2.09*10^-4 m)

= 1.435*10^12 s-1

Answer: 1.43*10^12 s-1

b)

Given:

f = 9.803*10^13 s-1

use:

lambda = c/f

=(3.0*10^8 m/s)/(9.803*10^13 s-1)

= 3.06*10^-6 m

= 3.06 um

Answer: 3.06 um

For any microscope, the smallest object that can be observed is one-half the wavelength of the radiation used. Thus, for example, the smallest object that can be observed with light of 400.0 nm is 2.00 x 10 m. eBook (a) What is the smallest...
