A factory produces vitamin tablets 24 hrs/day. Seven vitamins from the day shift are measured for Fe(III) content and found to have (in mg): 250, 243, 235, 260, 255, 247, 238 mg Fe(III) each. Seven vitamins from the night shift are also measured and found to have (in mg): 275, 235, 257, 241, 280, 268, 250 mg Fe(III) each. a) Report the mean, median, and 95% CI for the day shift and night shift. b) Select which test you would use to determine if the variance of the day shift and night shift are the same at the 95% level of confidence. Use it and report the result. c) Are the data paired or unpaired? d) Select which test you would use to compare the means of the two data sets. At the 95% level of confidence are the two shifts producing the same product? e) If Fe(III) in the table exceeds 300 mg, the tablets are no good and need to be thrown away. Solve for the percentage of tablets thrown away by the night shift and the day shift. f) Based on all of these metrics, explain which shift is doing a better job.
