Child and Elderly Abuse is the most common social problems
we have been noticing now a days. Child Abuse or neglect is
defined by Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act as " Any
recent failures act on the part of a parent or care gives that
results in death , or serious physical and emotional harm
sexual abuse or exploitation". Elderly Abuse is an act or failure
act that causes harm of distress to the older person.These type
of abuses must be bring to the notice of law and those should
be punished. All the details of abuse can be recorded in the
form of Fact Sheet and can be submitted to the law with the
details of abusee and abuser, suspected details, things
identified , dangers involved and the reason for reporting.
These should be reported to Child Welfare Department or local
police or law enforcement authorities. Information should be
best informed by mandated reporters such as Teachers,
principals, physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, counsellors,
law enforcement officers etc. Failure to report the abuse or
neglect results in punishment by law jailed in prison for 6
months or fine of 1000$ or some times both will be
implemented.(Key points : Child - A person under the age of
18 years, Elderly - A person aged above 65 years., Abuse -
Recklessly causing body injury.)
