No, financial ratios do not tell us whether to buy or sell stock. However, they provide a basis for comparison with the firm's own past performance, and with other firms in the industry. Using this comparative analysis, a reasonable basis for a buy/sell decision can be made out.

Thus, ratios by themselves are useless unless we can compare them with some other benchmarks.
