If a randomly chosen student owns a pet, what is the probability that (s)he lives in an apartment? Determine your answer by making a table similar to Table 1.3 in Cowles. 1. Answer #1

posterior probability represent condition

here condition is given that owns a pet, then finding out probability of living in apartment

apartment prior probability likehood for pet prior*likehood posterior probablities
live 0.86 0.18 0.1548 0.1548/0.215=0.72
do not live 0.14 0.43 0.0602 0.0602/0.215=0.28
total 1 0.61 0.215 1

P(live in apartment | owns pet ) = 0.72
