Question

Suppose you want to carry out the chemical reaction H2(g) + Cl2(g) + 2HCl(9) and have 1 mole of Cl2 gas.
Part A What volume in liters of H, gas would you need to have 1 mole of H2, given that the H2 pressure and temperature are 1.
Part B What would the volume of the product be if it were collected at 1.12 atm and 25.5 °C? Express your answer with the app

Answer #1
  1. Using the formula PV = nRT

Here, P = 1.12 atm

V = ?

T = 273 + 25.5 = 298.5 K

n = 1 mol

R = 0.082 L.atm/K.mol

Now using the above relation.

=>V = (1 x 0.082 x 298.5)/1.12 = 21.85 L

(B) Using the same relation,

Here, P = 1.12 atm

V = ?

T = 273 + 25.5 = 298.5 K

n = 2 mol

R = 0.082 L.atm/K.mol

=>V = (2 x 0.082 x 298.5)/1.12 = 43.71 L
