Answer #1

21. True.

Developmental schools tend to teach children how to be ready for elementary school and not center on the gifted child. These schools prepare children for elementary schools. These schools are child-centered, play-based, and child-oriented with a curriculum that is flexible according to the child’s needs. This approach allows the child to learn at the

pace of his or her own where he or she is free to discover everything. Children choose age/stage appropriate activities for their own stages of development according to their current interests. Developmental schools develop the child’s wholesome personality and are engaged in encouraging learning through activities with the intention to think, socialize, mature, solve problems, and have fun.

22. c. It tends to retard the development of the child’s speech.

Motherese talk or baby talk is actually better for the newborn child, but should stop being used at age 6 months. The reason for this is it tends to retard the development of the child’s speech. This is an infant-directed speech, where usually the mother or the caretaker speaks to the child in a slow-paced child-like manner. Baby talk has more emotion, irrespective of the words used. It has a higher pitch and more up and down patterns, which is capable of attracting the infants’ attention. So it is good for the first 6 months but after that, if no change is made in this pattern, it leads to retardation of the child's speech development.

23. True.

Six-month-old babies have a memory of up to 2 weeks. When the baby is only a few weeks old, his/her memories usually last for up to two days. Studies have confirmed that by the time he reaches 5-6 months, he can remember faces for up to 2 weeks.

24. True

The permissive parenting style is characterized by high responsiveness and low demandingness. Permissive parents are very responsive to the child's emotional needs, but they don't set limits or are very inconsistent in enforcing boundaries. If a child is raised by a permissive parenting style, he is likely to raise children that are independent and confident when he/she grows up.
