Develop a teaching plan for this client based on your findings. Based on the findings from the interview, develop a 2-3 page teaching plan to include the following:

List one goal for this teaching plan

Describe two to three teaching resources that might be used

Identify two teaching strategies that can be used based on the client interviewed

List specific client instructions regarding the medications and what adverse reactions they should be aware of/and what to do

Identify at least one factor that may negatively influence adherence to the medications and how it can be overcome

If, appropriate, describe how the family might be involved in ensuring the client is on a proper and safe medication regime

Health education or client education the most basic requirements for a successful health care outcome.

Goal:

The goal will be the client and the family members will be totally aware of medication administration

Teaching resources:

  • Flash cards, pamphlets, charts
  • Audiovisual aides
  • Live demonstrations

Teaching strategies:

  • Make sure the client is able to explain the needs of right medication administration process
  • Group activities
  • Verbal communications

Client instructions:

  • Inform about the action or use of each medication to patient
  • Tell about the frequency to take medication
  • Inform the medication before and after food to be taken
  • Inform about the side effects expected
  • No OTC medication unnecessarily

A factor which may negatively influence to adherence of medication is patient feeling better from symptoms and ceasing the medication without completing the course.This can be overcomed by informing about the harmful effects and severity of treatment when symptoms relapses

In case of psychiatric disorders the family members has to take part in the medication administration to avoid overdosing or drug abuse in patient.
