1.Intentional injuries refers to harming some one with sound mind and aware of the consequences of the event
Eg:A person stabbing another person out of anger
Unintentional injuries refers to one where the injury has occured but he person who did it is unaware or have a lack of knowledge
E.g.,Fall of a ceiling on a building contractor worker
2.Domestic violence refers to one which happens in the home set up.It is usually among childrens, elderly population and in disabled people in the him by another family member intentionally. Hence it is an intentional injury.
3.Some of the strategies used in the community to decresae the domestic violence are
The first strategy is to identify the cause for the violence (stress,burden, low socioeconomic status,poor medical service accessibility,mental illness),the other strategy like identifying the vulnerable population and screening and preventing them
It is classified into
Primary prevention by assessing the incidence of domestic violence
Secondary prevention by identifying the prevalence area of domestic violence
Tertiary prevention is by intervening and trying to help the victims
The others which has been initiated by the government are awareness campaign, promotion of health equity in community, community policing .The national plan to reduce violence against women and children has been welcomed by all and acts as a saviour to help the victim. The toll free helpline number to inform violence is in full fledge .The DV can be reported by anybody at any time and inform about the exact location for the recovery of the victim.
