• There are numerous end-of-life issues that we have all heard about in the news, but how are these laws established? Is it Okay for a patient and provider to make these decisions on their own, outside the law? Aren’t these privileged physician/patient decisions?

• You are the new compliance officer for a healthcare organization. Describe the steps you would take to ensure that your compliance plan is legal and effective.

It is quite difficult to design a law for people who are approaching end of their life.the judges,legislators and administrative officials have roles in influencing care at the end of life.there are some laws restrict administration of pain reliefs for dying patients. Some states have laws to minimise the dosages of a prescribed drug.such laws leave  the patient to struggle with pain.

Patient has the right to refuse the unwanted medical treatments.if the patient is not conscious the informed consent is not possible to get.in such condition legal documents can be prepared along with a discussion to family members and physician.

In some situation we can include surrogate decision makers into the treatment plan.a designated attorney may make all health care decision.in case of children parents decision is not absolute a paediatrician have a professional obligation on their patient.

Iniallly being an officer we should be aware about the key treatment for end of life.

3. Understand the advantage  of palliative care and know when to provide for our patient.

4.keep an effective communication with doctor and other medical staff.

5.arrange nursing and assisted living facilities in the community

6.be an advocate for effective end of life care
