PATHOPHYSIOLOGY- few sentence long described within nursing and medical diagnosis for hip fracture
Hip fracture is of 2 types-extra capsular and intra capsular
Extracapsular are common in
elderly,
more deformity-shortening of that limb(which is due to pull of greater trochanter by gluteus or abductor muscles) ,
more union chances(not lined by synovial fluid)
Occur with trivial trauma
While intracapsular fracture are
Common in young people
Less union chances(because lined by synovial fluid due to intracapsular location which inhibit callus formation)
Less deformity(beacause capsule prevents greater trochanter pulling )
