FUNCTIONS/ NECESSITY OF APPENDIX : Appendix is also called as vermiform appendix or vestigial organ. The shape of the appendix looks like a finger like blind tube connected to a cecum, which is a pouch like structure of colon. It looks like a worm shape and came from Latin word. The main functions of the appendix are as follows :-
* It maintains the gut flora
* Maintains immune and lymphatic system
*It stores good bacteria in its pouch which helps in rebooting of digestive system after an attack of diarrheal diseases
* Vestigial use
