a Break even=Fixed costs/Contribution margin
(281200/38)=7400 smokers.
b Before tax income required=63840/(1-0.4)=$106,400
Target Contribution margin=Fixed costs+Before tax income required
(281,200+106,400)=$387,600
Hence smokers=(387,600/38)=10,200 smokers.
