Although it was believed that leaders were born, in the recent age the business landscape has accepted and realized the importance of selecting and training their future leaders and how it affects their position and competence. Leaders are made, in the sense that individuals learn from the people that came before them and they mould the people that come after them. Leaders are selected by the company to be trained for their responsibilities early on in their career through mentorship and other guidance programs. In the context of global leadership, the understanding of the presencs of situational leadership is high, the presence of different cultures therefore creates the need for a leader from a different part of the world to learn from the leaders that are native to the market or area of operation and therein lies the understanding that some individuals might be born with characteristics to become a great leader but most individuals are trained for this position in their career.
