The Phelps Memorial Foundation was established in 1997 to support a mission of providing a family-centered healthcare system. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization as designed by the IRS. All gifts to the Phelps Memorial Foundation Office are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. Our Foundation is governed and supervised by the Foundation Committee which reports monthly to the Phelps Memorial Board of Directors.   • CARDIAC REHABILITATIION

    The Phelps Memorial Cardiac Rehabilitation program provides exercise lifestyle changes to decrease the risk of heart problems, and education for family and participants with heart conditions. These heart conditions can include a heart attack, angina, cardiac stent, heart surgery, angioplasty, and others.

    The program is designed to help you learn healthy lifestyle techniques that will prevent progression of coronary artery disease and help recover following a heart attack, cardiac surgery, angina, or congestive heart failure. It will enable learning of new lifestyle habits and build up endurance, strength, and tolerance to activity or exercise

  • CARDIOPULMONARY SERVICES

    Our cardiopulmonary services offer comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. Including in-hospital care providing treatment for disorders related to the pulmonary system and delivering life-saving interventions in the emergency room, assisting in the overall care of the patient.

    Common services are all modalities respiratory therapy, such as aerosolized and inhaled medication delivery, ventilator support, BIPAP/CPAP application and monitoring, EKG, EEG, pulmonary function testing, pulmonary rehab, and sleep studies.

  • COMMUNITY EDUCATION

    Phelps Memorial Health Center is dedicated to providing quality healthcare education to our community. We conduct community education seminars that are open to the public.   • CPR TRAINING COURSES

    The American Heart Association has courses designed to train individuals for life-threatening emergency situations. These courses include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and first aid basics. The knowledge and skills you learn may help save a life.

  • DIABETES EDUCATION

    Outpatient and Self-Management Program

    Diabetes is one of the most severe health problems of our time. Our education program is taught by a skilled healthcare team to teach you everything you need to know about managing your diabetes so you can live a healthier life. Participants have experienced reduced hemoglobin A1c levels and are more confident in their ability to manage their diabetes.

    What You Will Learn

    This multi-part course is offered at various times to accommodate individual schedules. Family members and significant others are welcome to attend at no additional cost. For those with special needs, we offer personalized instruction as needed. The charge for this program is billed directly to your medical insurance and is covered by many plans. You’ll learn details in:

  • Understanding of diabetes and how it affects your body.

  • Blood glucose monitoring and how to use the results.

  • Our Diabetes Education Program is in conjunction with BryanHealth which is recognized by the American Diabetes Association as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.

  • Healthy eating habits.

  • Monitoring your medications.

  • Importance of exercise and activity.

  • Early detection and prevention of complications.

    DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

    Our highly trained diagnostic imaging team provides exceptional quality care and testing using the latest in healthcare technology and strives daily to provide a patient-centered environment to make our guests as comfortable as possible. We offer many services including MRI, CT, general ultrasound, cardiovascular ultrasound, nuclear medicine, digital mammography, standard x-rays and PACS (Picture Archival Communication System).

  • EMERGENCY SERVICE

    Our ambulances provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) to the citizens of Phelps County and the surrounding areas through paramedic intercept services and long distance transfers.

    The paramedic intercept service involves responding with area volunteer services to enhance the services they already provide by administering medications and advanced cardiac life support to critically ill and injured patients. In addition to treating critically injured patients, staff provides medication and other advanced-level services to those that are not as severely injured or sick but would benefit from advanced pre-hospital interventions.

    Emergency medical services staff provides long distance transfers, transporting critical and non-critical patients to area facilities for care and specialty services not available locally.

  • Thyroid - Fine needle biopsy, thyroid surgery (lobe or total), parathyroid surgery

  • Abdominal - Colectomy, appendix

  • Venous Access - Vortex/infusaports, groshongs, subclavian Lines, removal of infusaports

  • Gall Bladder - Open, with or without, cholangiogram, laparoscopic, common bile duct exploration

  • Hernia (adult and pediatric) - Inguinal, ventral/incisional, umbilical, femoral, with mesh, hydrocelectomy, orchiectomy, vasectomy

  • Scopes - Upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy for mucus plugs, dilation esophagus (balloon)

    IMMUNIZATION CLINIC

    The Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska offers free immunization clinics at Phelps Memorial Health Center every fourth Thursday of the month from 2-4 PM. Immunizations are provided to children through the Vaccine for Children Program and Vaccine for Adults Program. The program serves the uninsured, underinsured, American Indian or Alaskan Native, and children enrolled in Medicaid.

    Inpatient Care

    RN (15% Night Differential-SCU/ER)

    6p-6a, 36 hours per week with weekend and holiday rotations.

    The Registered Nurse manages, organizes and administers nursing care for patients of all ages under the supervision of the Physician.

    Patient Care Tech - Nights

    Phelps Memorial Health Center is looking for a Patient Care Tech to work full-time, from 6p-6a. Every 3rd weekend and Holiday rotation is required.  

    Under the supervision of a Nurse, the Patient Care Tech is cross-trained in the role of Unit Secretary and Nursing Assistant. Based on the needs of the department, responsibilities are a combination of providing direct patient care and technical assistance to the nurse and performing a variety of computer, clerical, scheduling, and supply functions as necessary for the operation of the unit.

    RN - Med/Surg

    The Registered Nurse manages, organizes and administers nursing care for patients of all ages under the supervision of the Physician.

    36 hours per week (6p-6a). Weekend and holiday rotation.

    Surgical Services

    Surgical Technologist

    Non-Certified/Certified. The Surgical Technologist assists the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. The CST ensures that the operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure, monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies, and cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments.

    Tuition reimbursement is available for certification.

    RN-Perioperative

    Perioperative RN will scrub/circulate for surgical and endoscopy procedures, coordinating and assembling appropriate instrumentation for each individual case in a timely manner, passing instrumentation, appropriate medications, and anticipates the needs of the surgeon while maintain the sterile field. Follows the established plan of care and provides direct surgical care interventions within the scope of practice. Will work as a team player and participates as a team member by performing additional assignments when needed under the supervision of the OR Leader and Supervisor.

    Laboratory

    Medical Lab Technician - PRN

    The Medical Laboratory Technician performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease of patients of all ages. The PRN position will cover planned and unplanned staff absences. Hours varied.

    Cardiopulmonary

    LRCP - Respiratory Therapist

    Full-time position, 36 hours per week with call and weekend and holiday rotations. The Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (LRCP) administers cardiopulmonary care to patients of all ages with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.

    Environmental Services

    EVS Tech I

    Part-time/20 hours. 4p-9p, M-F, with every fifth weekend rotation.

    The Environmental Services Technician I cleans onsite and offsite hospital areas and ensures there is an ample supply of clean linen for patient and facility use.

    Patient Service Rep

    Part-time, every other weekend 3p-11p.

    The Patient Services Representative interviews incoming patients or their representatives and enters information required for registrations into the Information system, operates switchboard, and maintains control of money received.

    Information Systems

    Computer User Support Specialist I

    Full-time, M-F, with call every 4th week. The Computer support specialist provides help and advice to employees within Phelps Memorial Health Center. Computer support specialists, assist non-IT users who are having computer problems and support employees with their day-to-day issues.

    EHR Systems Support

    Assistant Clinical Analyst

    The Clinical Analyst Assistant, under the guidance of a Clinical Analyst is responsible for support of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and their use by end users. Functions as a liaison between for PMHC staff members providing troubleshooting and training.

    Prior experience using an EMR or other Electronic Health Record system is required.

    Medical Group

    LPN - Phelps Medical Group (Full-Time, M-F)

    No nights or weekends!

    The Licensed Practical Nurse in the Phelps Medical Group Clinic setting manages, organizes and administers nursing care for patients of all ages under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician.

    Phelps Memorial Health Center utilizes Det Norske Veritas (DNV) as our accreditation agency. DNV Healthcare has deeming authority granted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) to accredit critical access hospitals. DNV's accreditation program for critical access hospitals utilizes the NIAHO standards and a highly collaborative survey process to ensure the highest level of patient safety possible. Surveys are conducted on an annual basis and are based on specific conditions of participation as defined by CMS for critical access hospitals.
