Telemedicine is focused on the use of electronic information and telecommunicstion technologies to support long-distance clinical healthcare, patient and professional health -related education, public health snd health administration. It is included in to fill the gap resulting from an over abundance of patients and a scarcity of health providers. Some of the barriers are regulatory lack of reimbursement for consultative services, cost for equipment, network services and training time and fear of health care system changes.
Liability concerns are firstly there is possibility that the client may percieve it as inferior because the consulting professional does not perform a hands on examination. Secondly professionals who practice across state lines desl with different practice provisions in each state and maybe subject to malpractice suits in multiple jurisdiction, raising questions about how that liability might be distributed or which states practice standards would apply.
