Occupation is a thing that you are paid to do and not necessarily need a degree. For example being an actor is called as an occupation.
Nursing is one of the widest profession now a days as to be a nurse you need a degree and formal training before you start a new job in a hospital. You need to work full time being a nurse whereas in occupation, it is upto you when and how to work.
