Microcomputers are inexpensive computers with single microprocessor and are very fast in performing certain tasks which hand handheld calculators can perform.
With the advent of microcomputers, the handheld calculators have become obsolete. Handheld calculators are simple enough to only perform the task of calculation whereas microcomputers can also perform certain other tasks beside calculations.
Microcomputers are considered to be fast in their task. They can also perform multitasking as compared to handheld calculators. Microcomputers are almost used everywhere whereas handheld calculators are only used for certain calculations of amounts. This is one of the greatest region that handheld calculator have become obsolete.

Another reason can be, microcomputers can provide us connectivity all around the world. Internet can also be accessed in microcomputers whereas no such tasks can performed in held handheld calculators.

Smartphones can also be considered as an example of microcomputers as smartphones are also known to have single processor and have all the functions which microcomputer have.
It can be said that a smart phones have overtaken microcomputers as well because smartphones performe all the tasks which microcomputer performes and are easy to carry, lightweight and more convenient than microcomputers.

Smartphone have also replaced the handheld calculator as smartphone contains all the functions of handheld calculators. So, in this context it also be said that hand held calculators have become absolute in every manner.
